Conversion of the New Moroccan Driving Licenses Starts on June 3

Important news for Moroccan drivers living in Italy: starting from June 3, 2025, it will be possible to convert the 2020 Moroccan driving license model into an Italian driving license (and vice versa) without taking driving exams. The announcement was officially made by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, which confirmed the completion of the procedure required for the entry into force of the bilateral agreement between Italy and the Kingdom of Morocco.

According to the Ministry’s official statement, the agreement, signed on March 27, 2024 by Minister Matteo Salvini and Moroccan Ambassador Youssef Balla, aims to strengthen relations between the two countries by facilitating mobility and the recognition of rights for their citizens living abroad.

This measure had been awaited for a long time by hundreds of Moroccan citizens residing in Italy, who will finally be able to obtain an Italian driving license through license conversion in a shorter time. This will make it easier to access employment opportunities, daily mobility and full integration into Italian society.

Further operational details about the Moroccan driving license conversion procedure in Italy will be announced in the coming weeks through the official channels of the Ministry.
